The Inaugural Ryan Villopoto Amateur Motocross Cup is almost 6 months away before the front gates at Pala Raceway opens for the New Years event.
One of the primary reasons for creating the event was to find greater parity in a class structure.  The core structure in the RV Cup is the “Challenge” classes.  Those are also known as open classes in todays amateur motocross racing.  The idea of the “Challenge” classes is to bring all the ages together to compete in one division.
The class structure designed for the RV Cup starts at 4 years old.  Starting at age 5, the years overlap one year.  Each standard class will only include 2 years of age.  This is important for the younger ages since their bodies are growing so rapidly early in life.  In this example, the ages start 4-5, then 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, and so on.  This remains in place through 14-15 years.
Below is the age chart that will allow riders to view what age and how many classes they are eligible for.  The chart also shows the new classes for Novice and Intermediate riders on 125, 250 and 450’s.  To help make racing more economical, every age below is offered at least two (2) classes for one motorcycle.
